Sexual Assault Support Services (SASS) of Northern Nevada

About Us

Crisis Call Center provides quarterly training for individuals interested in volunteering as advocates for victims of sexual assault. The comprehensive training, which includes 60 hours of instruction and supervised experience, is designed to equip individuals with the tools necessary to provide face-to-face crisis intervention to victims and their loved ones immediately following an assault. Advocates are asked to commit to three 12-hour on-call shifts per month for a period of one year. Advocates are not dispatched every shift for which they are on-call, and while they are on-call, they may be at home or otherwise enjoying their regular lives. Training is conducted during evenings and two weekends over a five-week period. For additional information, please call 775-784-8085 or email SASS@crisiscallcenter.org.

Interested individuals require no special skills or training but should possess the following qualities: compassion, reliability, sound judgment and ability to communicate with diverse populations.
