Mission

The mission of PATHHSEO Soup Kitchen at Caldwell Temple is to "Help to Heal the Hurt of Hunger and the Consequences of Poverty" and ultimately to achieve a hunger-free human race. We devote and engage our program to help the fight to end hunger and the social repercussions of poverty through a collective effort and unification of strengths of the members, workers and volunteers .

Description

The Caldwell Temple Soup Kitchen formed from the Caldwell Temple Feeding Ministry which was established by Reverend Nathaniel B. Legay and Mrs. Gloria Legay, who dreamed of enhancing the family lifestyle of the community and church members.

General Information

The Caldwell Temple Soup Kitchen has been operating for four years in the South Bronx. New York City has one of the highest levels of income inequality of any city in the United States. In the Bronx alone, there are over 400,000 people living in food insecure homes. Our mission is "Help to Heal the Hurt of Hunger and the Consequences of Poverty" through emergency food relief, social services such as SNAP and WIC screenings, health initiatives such as HIV screening and consultation, flu shots as well as nutrition classes, bi-yearly parenting workshops, clothing closet, special holiday community meals, and much more.
