Missionof the School

We are an inner-city day camp serving children from all ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. Linnaean Community School Program is dedicated to the mission of enhancing the lives of community members by providing educational, creative and recreational courses within a social setting.

In conjunction with a dedicated Neighborhood Council, theCommunitySchoolstrives to provide programs to enrich the lives of the diverse population ofCambridge. This planning process enables theCommunitySchoolstaff to develop a framework of program goals and activities specific to the Linnaean Community.

The Linnaean Community School program is structured to build individual uniqueness and rapport among our population. We aim to build on a specific skill for the duration of the academic year by offering core classes, such as kung fu, foreign language, piano and gymnastics. Our additional enrichment classes strive to provide a multifaceted, multisensory immersion of specific topics of culture ranging from fine arts, science, history and other educational subject matter. Through this programming we hope to promote a nurturing environment that fosters altruism and awareness of differential learning.

Description: Cambridge Summer Camp Seeking Director July 2 - August 17, with additional set-up days in the last week in June.

This Camp Studies Seafaring and the China Trade. There are two full day field trips a week, two half days for swimming lessons. The remainder of the time is spent in a public school building with a courtyard, gym and auditorium. We'll provide the training; CPR certifications etc., if necessary. Camp experience is preferred but not necessary.

Director's hours: 9:30am - 5:30pm

It’s a 40 hour a week position and the salary is $15/hour.

Campers ages 6 - 11 Camp days and hours: Mondays to Fridays 8:00 am - 5:30 pm.

Requirements: No age or minimum education requirements per se. But if you are organized, like children, can get them to listen to you, and love to conduct the extra-curricular activities in our exciting program, we would really like to hear from you.
