Ecologists' Movement of Macedonia (DEM)

The Ecologists’ Movement of Macedonia (DEM) is a network of NGOs comprised of 23 individual ecological organizations, dedicated to the protection of the environment and the development of programs to enhance Macedonia’s natural resources through sustainable development, legislative initiatives, and raising public awareness. DEM also is committed to implementation of international environmental standards and sustainable development of ecological alternatives. To achieve this, DEM assumes the role of coordinator for nationwide environmental initiatives and dissemination of relevant environment-related activities, such as: • Information and education • Raising public awareness • Lobbying and advocacy • Monitoring of environmental status • Responding to various environment-related concerns • Alerting appropriate authorities to crucial problems
