About Us

The New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU), the New York affiliate of the ACLU, is one of the nation's foremost defenders of civil liberties and civil rights. Founded in 1951, the NYCLU is a not-for-profit, nonpartisan organization with nearly 50,000 members statewide.

The Nassau County Chapter is one of eight local offices statewide and was founed in 1962. The chapter office is the local face of the ACLU and is responsible for advocacy, lobbying, litigation, outreach and education throughout Nassau County, Long Island.
