The Mental Health Association of Central Oklahoma is private 501 c 3 nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the understanding, prevention and treatment of mental illness and to promoting mental health through education, services and advocacy.
The Mental Health Association of Central Oklahoma provides information and referrals to other individuals. Individuals who contact us are provided information or put in touch with other agencies and organizations that provide the therapy, counseling or treatment they need. A majority of our clients contact us via telephone and through our website. Every once and a while an individual will drop in without an appointment.
The Mental Health Association of Central Oklahoma also offers a TeenScreen Program and a Sunbridge Counseling Program. The TeenScreen Program works with schools to individually screen students ages 13-18 years of age for depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, eating disorders and other mental illnesses. Students screening positive are immediately matched with other agencies that can provide appropriate professional mental health services. The Sunbridge Counseling Program matches individuals seeking mental health treatment with licensed mental health counselors who provide bro bono counseling services for those individuals who are unable to access other community mental health services. These Sunbridge Counseling service fees are based on the ability to pay and no one is ever denied services due to an inability to pay.
The Mental Health Association of Central Oklahoma also serves as an advocate for mental health funding and treatment. We work with other mental health advocacy agencies and the Oklahoma State Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse to advocate for legislation that positively impacts mental health in the State of Oklahoma.
