The mission of LVA is to reach adults whose literacy skills are very limited or non-existent and to provide volunteer tutors who can teach reading, writing, and English speaking skills. LVA Provides the professional training, materials, and support that enables volunteers to be effective tutors.

Literacy Volunteers of America - Montgomery County (LVA-MC) was established in 1989 to tutor adults in Montgomery County in basic English and to improve the reading and writing skills of those who request it.

English as a Second Language instruction was added in 1995. Currently, we conduct ESL classes at various church, school, and community center locations throughout Montgomery County.

Workplace Literacy classes are offered to employers who will allow time and facilities for tutoring on their work site.

Tutors are volunteers and all materials are provided at no cost to the adult student.

Together we can fight illiteracy in Montgomery County.
