About Us

The Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD) serves 48,000 students in 86 schools in the city of Sacramento. SCUSD serves an extremely diverse student population that speaks more than 44 different languages, over a quarter of whom are classified as English Language Learners. SCUSD also serves a predominantly low-income population, with over 70% of students eligible for free and reduced lunch. Within SCUSD, the Office of Family and Community Engagement provides a wide range of services and supports to students, families and the community with specific focus areas that include: health, mental health, youth development, family support, homeless, foster youth, LGBTQ and others. This office also provides leadership and policy advocacy within the school district, county and state on educational reform issues that involve a focus on the needs of the whole child and community.
