About Us
First Book is a national non-profit organization that provides new books to children in need, addressing one of the most important factors affecting literacy: access to books. Since 1992, FirstBook has distributed 100 million books.
The First Book Brooklyn Advisory Board was formed in 2011 to serve children from low-income families in the Brooklyn, NY area. Our Board is comprised of diverse volunteer leaders from all sectors.
In 2014 First Book Brooklyn aims to raise funds to get at books into the hands of every child in need entering the city's newly expanded universal pre-k program. Our program is highly efficient and impactful: all funds raised go to providing books at $2.50/new book.
