About Us

We are a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that uses the benefits of education and in-situ projects to impart the knowledge of essential issues that often get ignored in rural Indian communities. Our focus bring together a synergy between health and environment, two issues of growing importance. Based in the United States, the organization was the vision of two college students in 2006 and now encompasses an executive board of dedicated and passionate young adults.

Our efforts have included the following:

Youth Empowerment Program

We have run our Youth Empowerment Program since our inception. Our summer classes instruct children about basic health and sanitation as well as environmentalism. In addition, we have classes for young adults that encourage dialogue about gender-based issues. We work closely with local groups and village heads to provide these children with information to lead healthier lives.

Medical Outreach

Our Medical Outreach program was carried out for the first time in the summer of 2009. We collaborate with local organizations, doctors and nurses to bring a mobile unit equipped with EKG, Ultrasound and pharmaceuticals to the villages. In 2009 alone, our healthcare professionals and volunteers were able to provide much needed medical care to over one thousand women, children and men.

Surveys

Dil Se has conducted health and lifestyle surveys in seven villages in order to better understand the needs and health concerns of the areas we work in. We hope the information will allow us to better cater our work towards the villages and design sustainable solutions.
