YWCA of Queens is a non-profit social service organization that provides opportunities for personal growth through enriching, empowering and educational programs. From its humble beginnings in1978, when it was founded by nine Korean women, the agency has grown to serve 11,000 families a year and maintains a membership of 1,000. The YWCA is a catalyst for change in the community and has grown in to the provider of choice for new immigrants. As a multi-service organization, the YWCA maintains five program centers located in Flushing New York. The Center for Children, Center for Youth, Center for Adults, Center for Seniors and Center for Arts & Culture combine to provide comprehensive programs that proactively respond to the community needs of Queens and greater New York. In addition to our five Centers, the YWCA now offers home health aide services through our newly founded Y Evergreen Care, which is licensed by New York State to offer home health aide services and home health aide certification training courses.
As an affiliate of the world-wide YWCA and the YWCA of the USA, we share the bold global vision of empowering women and eliminating racism. The YWCA currently administers multiple NYC contracts and enjoys an excellent reputation among community members. The YWCA of Queens has been recognized by New York State Governor, Queens Borough President and City Councilman for its years of dedicated service to the Queens community.
