About us

Jan Hus Church (pronounced Yahn Hoos) is a community of faith in the Presbyterian tradition whose mission is to call people into Christ-like action in the world. Our church is named after the great Czech reformer and martyr, Jan Hus (1370-1415), who spoke out against the injustices of his day. Like Jan Hus, our witness is to the radical inclusivity of the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Rooted in our progressive worship and life of prayer, we run a six-story Neigbhorhood House that is home to: A Homeless Outreaach & Advocacy Program, Child's Play, the Jan Hus Playhouse Theatre, the Jan Hus Residence, a senior center, a preschool, dozens of self-help groups, pastoral counseling offices and afterschool and community groups.
