Breakthrough New York increases educational opportunity for motivated public middle school students and encourages talented high school and college students to pursue careers in education.

Our Model: Breakthrough is a tuition-free, year-round enrichment program for highly motivated middle school students with limited educational opportunities. The program seeks to prepare the students for challenging, college-preparatory high schools. Once accepted, the students make a six-year commitment, which includes a rigorous academic summer program as well as educational enrichment classes, museum trips, mentoring, and high school placement guidance throughout the school year. Breakthrough connects motivated middle school students with a talented group of their high school and college-aged peers and creates an environment where love of learning, academic achievement, and community leadership are deeply valued.
