About Us

The Hope Haven Foundation was established to support all current and future activities and projects of the foundation in Cambodia. The current activities and projects include the Sophia House dormitory, mentoring a family in the slums through the Bong Paoun Project, being on the board of directors and actively involved with The University Student Fellowship (USF), and having art classes using the MAD art curriculum. Future projects and activities will hopefully be to start an English after-school program for children, train teachers in the provinces, teach English in a sex-trafficking shelter for young girls, and expand the MAD art program in Cambodia. The Sophia House dormitory opened on Oct 1, 2012 and currently houses 4 girls who attend local universities in Phnom Penh. The dormitory will be able to accommodate up to 11 girls beginning in the Fall semester 2013. It provides a safe place for girls to live, mentoring and discipling, and growing in new skills and knowledge. The name Sophia means wisdom in Greek. The Bong Paoun Project is an organization that works with families who live in some of the many slums in Phnom Penh. The Project's goal to is get children off the streets and to go to school instead of picking up garbage from the streets for money. The University Student Fellowship was recently created by several dormitory leaders and pastors to bring together the many dormitory ministries in Phnom Penh. We will be working to support students from the provinces who are attending universities, reaching out to students in the provinces, providing pastoral and career counseling and mentoring, helping to develop various skills.
