About us

Are you a global citizen? Seeking to build a career in a governmental, NGO, corporate, or higher education position with a strong international component? Do you wish to focus your goals on a specific geographic region?

SIA's mission is to prepare students for careers and leadership positions in the private and public sectors of an increasingly interdependent world. Our students acquire a strong knowledge base and the competencies crucial to a successful career in a wide range of international affairs positions. Our interdisciplinary program draws extensively upon the intellectual resources available to Penn State as a top 50 global research university.

The SIA currently has nine concentrations in which students may specialize, or students may create their own:

  • Development
  • Dispute Resolution
  • Humanitarian and Human Rights
  • Environment and Resources
  • International Education
  • Middle Eastern Studies
  • International Cyber Security
  • International Energy Policy
