Our mission is to provide the leadership and coordination necessary to enhance the economic viability of St. Helens.
SHEDCO utilizes the Main Street approach, a proven and comprehensive approach to revitalizing downtown areas developed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Main Street Programs are community-based, funded, organized, and managed. Organization, promotion, design, and business development are the four critical components of the program.
Organization: Equips the committees and staff to plan events, advocate for our organization, and attracting new members and support to SHEDCO.
Promotion: Focuses on advancing and marketing the downtown core as the center of commerce, culture, and community for St. Helens.
Design: Shapes the physical appearance of our community to make St. Helens an inviting and attractive place to live or visit.
Business Development: Analyzes current markets to develop long-term solution, identify new market opportunities, and stimulate investment in property.
