About Us

BAASICS (Bay Area Art & Science Interdisciplinary Collaborative Sessions) is a San Francisco-based non-profit organization dedicated to exploring contemporary topics through the parallel lenses of art and science. We envision a culture in which the fine arts and sciences are complimentary parts of our popular discourse, together able to provide an exceptional understanding of our world and of what it means to be human.

We produce accessible, free, and entertaining programs that challenge the prevailing misconception that the contemporary fine arts and sciences are difficult for a popular audience to appreciate.

Additionally, we aim to foment interdisciplinary exchange and a new genre of experimentation that will move beyond what one of these disciplines can achieve on its own. To this end, we aspire to support art-science relationships through an annual grant, given to Bay Area-based artist-scientist teams committed to learning from, and being inspired by, one another.
