The Long Beach Immigrant Rights Coalition (LBIRC), is a grass-roots network of community-based organizations and individuals working towards a more humane and just immigration policy with greater respect for the human rights and dignity of all immigrants. LBIRC is funded through grants and donations, and our 501(3)c fiscal sponsor is the Unitarian Universalist Church of Long Beach.
We provide immigrant communities the resources and knowledge needed to become healthy, educated, productive, secure (empowered) and engaged member of our community. We carry out our work through service, education, and advocacy.
We are passionate about:
- Supporting immigrant youth and families.
- Cultivating a community that acknowledges and welcomes the contributions and talents of immigrant community members.
- Fostering spaces in which all community members, irrespective of race, class, nationality, legal status, age, sexual orientation, or disability can come together to discuss and solve common challenges and problems.
- Joining with others on the local, state, and national levels to promote immigration policies that are based on the principles of effectiveness, pragmatic reality, justice and human rights.
