About Us

The AVKO Dyslexia Research Foundation devotes its resources to helping others help dyslexics learn to read. Through its publications and by maintaining two websites ( http://www.avko.org )and http://www.spelling.org ) AVKO helps others understand what dyslexia is, how a family member can help a dyslexic learn to read and spell, how teachers and Home School parents can develop techniques for teaching those with specific learning disabilities to decode and encode the English language. AVKO operates a FREE DAILY Reading Clinic at its headquarters. AVKO is especially interested in spreading the concept that the Adult Community Education Programs should include courses for that small minority of parents who want to learn how to tutor their own child who is experiencing difficulty in learning in school. AVKO is so concerned with this, that AVKO offers free lesson plans for such a course.
