  • About Us

Mujeres Cambia is a group of women working for change within their families, their community, and the environment.

Mujeres Cambia is a microenterpise that teaches business skills and financial literacy while providing economic independence to low-income women in the small fishing community of San Pablo, Ecuador. The group makes paper jewelry from discarded magazines and the string is the same as used by local fisherman to repair their nets. On average, a single necklace takes 8 hours to make, while some take more than 10 hours. Products are priced to provide each artisan with a fair wage. The group has worked with members on long term goal setting, launched a social loan fund, set up bank accounts and developed a saving programs.
