The GET DOWN HIV Awareness Campaign

About Us

GET DOWN is an HIV/AIDS and Sexual Health Education and Empowerment Multimedia Program. GET DOWN utilizes viral short form content, education (in schools and extra curricular arts education), social media, blogging, events and - launching in the future - a youth oriented radio, in order to educate at-risk youth about HIV, AIDS, sexual behavior and safe sex. One of GET DOWN’s first events based programs – the No More Stigma Film Series – made its debut at Maysles Cinema in Harlem, NY in June 2012. The first cycle of GET DOWN PSA, was written, produced and directed by Kim J. Ford (Lionqueen 192 Productions, Inc.), candidly portrayed sexually active youth of various sexual identities who are experimenting with multiple sexual partners and the consequences they deal with as a result. The PSAs also featured celebrities Dawn Richard (of Dirty Money and formerly of Danity Kane/MTV’s Making The Band), Demarco Majors (formerly LOGO’s Shirts & Skins), and Siri Music artist Stefani Vara. High School and College aged youth were able to gain experience on camera and behind the scenes on the project. De’Von Christopher, publisher of Bleu Magazine, served as co-producer on the “GET DOWN” public service announcements, Vol I. GET DOWN is an official Fractured Atlas sponsored project.
