About us

The Texas Southern Christian Leadership Conference (Texas SCLC) is a civil rights organization founded to help eliminate racism, poverty and violence from within our society. Founded by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the national SCLC has affiliated chapters across the country. The Texas SCLC provides leadership, supportive services and civil rights advocacy across the State of Texas and within the Southwestern Region of the United States of America. Housed on the campus of the Harmony Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, the Texas SCLC has established the MLK Day of Service Summit, the CommuniVersity of Texas and the Urban Mutual Benefits Association (Urban Mutual) to help improved the societal outcomes from some of our most vulnerable citizens.
