Family Promise of Warren County, Inc.

Family Promise of Warren County (FPWC) Inc. is an independent and self supporting private nonprofit 501(c)3 registered agency. FPWC is a grassroots agency and began serving homeless families in Warren County in July 2008. Prior to our inception, Warren County did not have a shelter program for families with children. Family Promise staff provides intensive case management services, advocacy and services to assist homeless families to obtain housing. Collaboration exists with practically every public and private social service agency in Warren County as well as State and Federal agencies. Family Promise provides the full continuum of housing services and includes emergency shelter for the homeless, supportive housing for people with special needs, homelessness prevention to keep families in their homes and rapid re-housing services for individuals and families who are already homeless. Housing alone may not be enough so Family Promise of Warren County also provides a variety of services to support residents, including those who have been recently homeless, the disabled, families with children, and persons with special needs.

Interfaith Hospitality Network Sheltering Program

The mission of the Family Promise of Warren County Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) is to address the immediate needs of homeless families in our communities. Through IHN, we extend compassion, care, and hope to families through a network of Host and Support Congregations, civic and business organizations, and individual volunteers. We provide safe, home-like emergency shelter, meals, and other support for helping families regain their independence.

IHN brings the community together to help families regain their housing, their independence, and their dignity. IHN is a partnership of congregations, businesses and individuals within a community helping families who are facing homelessness. It offers an opportunity for volunteers to reduce homelessness and transform lives.

The model that Family Promise of Warren County uses is part of a national model and 200 Interfaith Hospitality Networks are currently operating in 42 states and the District of Columbia, in large cities, suburbs, and rural counties. They mobilize community resources: houses of worship for lodging, congregations for volunteers, social service agencies for assessment and referrals, and existing facilities for day programs. This strategy enables networks to help homeless families achieve lasting independence at a third of the cost of traditional shelters.

Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-housing (HPRP)

The Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP) is a HUD funded program and is a partnership with HUD and the NJ Department of Community Affairs. HPRP provides financial assistance and services to prevent individuals and families from becoming homeless and help those who are already experiencing homelessness to be quickly re-housed and stabilized. There are three core components of rapid re-housing: housing identification, rent and move-in assistance (financial), and rapid re-housing case management and services. All three components are present and available in effective rapid re-housing programs.  Rapid re-housing is designed to help individuals and families quickly exit homelessness and return to permanent housing.
