About us

The YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. The YWCA Eastern Union County seeks to create an environment through which women empower themselves and work to lead non-violent lives.

The YWCA EUC opened its doors in 1920 and since then has been serving the women, children, and families of Union County. In 1978, in response to the growing concern about domestic violence in Union County, the YWCA EUC established Project Protect to provide shelter and other domestic violence services.

Currently the YWCA is the lead agency in Union County NJ providing comprehensive services for survivors of domestic violence. Services include shelter, supportive and transitional housing, counseling, legal advocacy and representation, 24 hour hotline, domestic violence response teams, children's program (PALS), and domestic violence/child abuse liaison.
