Virginia Beach EMS

Virginia Beach EMS coordinates and manages the Commonwealth of Virginia's largest City's EMS system providing services to the areas citizens and visitors. Our EMS system includes the ten volunteer rescue squads located within the City, numerous specialty EMS and rescue teams, as well as Emergency Communication’s Emergency Medical dispatch, Fire Department first response and Police Department AED response. Currently, we have 1000 members (and counting) that volunteer with our organization and 56 career members, including 36 career medics, providing emergency healthcare services to our community. Customer and citizen satisfaction surveys are constantly in the 90^th percentile and we continue our efforts and successes in recruiting and credentialing new providers. Our Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) class has over 60 students enrolled. We staff, on average, ten ambulances, three ALS zone cars, two supervisor vehicles and various other rescue support equipment per shift. Virginia Beach EMS conducts, on average, three hour long orientation sessions per month to educate potential volunteers about our system and the volunteer application process. Our volunteer EMS program provides a structured and meaningful way to contribute to your community or explore the emergency health care field called EMS. No experience is necessary as we provide free training, including certification, and the patient care and leadership opportunities for developing your potential in exchange for your service.
