About Us

The Abraham Path Initiative (API) is an international non-profit NGO that supports economic development and local heritage preservation along cultural walking routes in the Middle East. Over the last ten years API has grown to become an organization with a two million dollar a year income, thanks to support from the World Bank and a committed network of major donors supporting its work.

Our purpose is to help the world remember that no matter what divides us, what unites us is far greater. We shine a light on the ancient path of Abraham (Ibrahim, in Arabic), the legendary common ancestor of over half of humanity. He is celebrated for his kindness and hospitality toward perfect strangers. We inspire walks that create unlikely connections across cultures, fostering local livelihood and global understanding. The Abraham Path serves as a platform for cultural and economic exchange benefiting local communities and travelers alike.
