About us

The mission of South Baltimore Learning Center is to improve the self-sufficiency of educationally disadvantaged adults. SBLC is a community-based nonprofit organization providing functional literacy and life skills training, in addition to career preparation services, to residents in the Baltimore Area. SBLC-- now serving nearly 700 adult learners annually-- is making a difference in the greater community by helping to provide a more literate and better-prepared workforce. Through our more recent Community Technology Center, Career/Employability Program, the Drop-In Tutoring Center, External Diploma Program, and long-established one-to-one tutoring services, adult basic education and pre-GED/ GED classes, SBLC continues to provide the critical tools necessary for educationally disadvantaged adults to either enter or succeed in the workforce.
