A world without breast cancer
SUSAN G. KOMEN (established 1982)
Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Suzy, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer. Today, Susan G. Komen works to end breast cancer in the U.S. and throughout the world by investing more than $800 million in breast cancer research and $1.6 billion in community outreach programs over the past 30 years; providing funding to help low-income and uninsured/underinsured women get screened and get treatment; advocating for cancer research and outreach programs; and working globally in more than 30 countries. Komen is the nation's largest private funding source for breast health and breast cancer research.
SUSAN G. KOMEN LOUISVILLE
Susan G. Komen was introduced to Louisville in 1996, when the Junior League hosted the first Komen Race for the Cure®. Just three years later, in 1999, our local Affiliate was founded. Komen Louisville is proud to have contributed over $5 million to the community for breast health education, screening and treatment programs; and $2 million to breast cancer research.
