The Sandema Project

London, BEN, United Kingdom | sandema.org.uk/index.html

About Us

In 1993 a young Ghanaian teacher invited his former university lecturer from Britain to visit his village, Sandema, located in the poorest region of Ghana. That was the start of an enduring partnership which has developed into a highly successful, unique educational institution.

The Sandema Educational Charity was founded on February 3rd 1997. Since then generous donations from thousands of well-wishers in Britain combined with the devotion of teachers in Ghana have created a unique partnership and an institution where, for the first time in their lives, women, men and teenagers acquire, free of charge, practical and academic skills.

We have constructed classrooms and workshops to provide educational courses and skills training. We have installed a well for clean drinking water, taught and trained thousands of women, men and children in many subjects and skills, and all of this thanks to your donations. The people of Sandema are thankful, but they still need your help and our work is far from complete. We must continue to help, so that they can achieve their potential, and better their living conditions. Please take a look at the activities page for more details and what your donations have helped accomplish so far in Sandema and our current projects.
