About Us

The Walker Center is a nonprofit organization that fosters transformative educational efforts which promote a more just and peace-filled world. We focus our work on nonprofit organizations, faith leaders, and faith-based and interfaith communities. Our 150 year history as a "house of hospitality," as well as our inviting and one-of-a-kind 2.2 acre campus, help create a uniquely potent space for learning and personal/community growth.

Our primary activities: We 1) provide support and accommodations for conferences and retreats on behalf of other nonprofit organizations and partners, 2) develop and offer programs, workshops and retreats for faith leaders, 3) provide intentional community housing and programming for interfaith graduate students, and 4) host the general public and those in need of short-term accommodations at our inn/B&B.

Our suburban location (144 Hancock Street, Newton MA 02466) is quiet and lush, yet has easy access to greater Boston as well as to much of New England; we are just inside the I-95 freeway, and we are walking distance from Boston-area public transit.
