About Us

The San Francisco FROZEN FILM FESTIVAL shows yearly in July, and brings independent filmmakers and musicians to the San Francisco Bay Area from around the globe!

The festival itself is a collection of razor's edge independent films and bands. Included in the festival are nights of live music concerts, short films, animation, global features, long and short documentaries, skate films, music documentaries, and music videos.

All films screened and accepted into the festival inspire the artisticcommunity with work that is leading film, music, and cinematography's evolution and that will ensure the Bay Area's reputation for innovation in thearts.

Of the filmmakers chosen to screen their films, some will win "best picture awards," all will gain additional press, some will meetfuturecollaborators, fall in love, and all will continue on the process of furthering what we hope to be long and fulfilling careers in the film and music industries.

Our Name and Purpose

San Francisco is one of the great cities of the world, but none other than Mark Twain famously quipped: "The coldest winter I ever spent was my summer in San Francisco." Some have disputed whether Twain actually said the words, but none have denied that the beautiful City By The Bay is affected by a summer breeze. The Frozen Film Festival takes place every year in the Dead of Summer, when San Francisco is at its most chill.

Mission: Celebrating the diversity of San Francisco by bringing film and music that embodies the Bay Areas unique mixture of cultures, the S.F.F.F.F. works to create a sustainable and supportive network of independent artists in the Bay Area. In an area of virtual media, the S.F.F.F.F. will give artists a place to exhibit their work, build skills, and highlight their talents.

Our programs are thoughtfully selected educational and cultural events that will strengthen the artistic bonds of audience and artisan through international and local recruitment, with a special eye to developing the film and music community of the Bay Area.

S.F.F.F.F. hosts an annual film and music festival, as well as screenings, local music and dance events, and international web based features including screenings on "Second Life", and through active community participation and programs. We will host artist lectures, educational workshops, and learn-ins.

Our belief is that a blended mixture of both live events and internet-centered events will help artists in the Bay Area transition into the future of narrative media and musical calibration. As we coalesce into a more richly textured and technological savvy society, it is incumbent on supportive local communities to enable artists to gain the confidence and skills they need to continue the important role they play in society.
