About Us

In June 2006, The Climate Project (TCP) began operations based in Nashville, Tennessee, as non-profit organization with the mission of increasing public awareness of the climate crisis at a grassroots level throughout the United States and abroad. By April 2007, a diverse group of 1000 volunteers from every corner of the USA had been trained to present a version of the slide show on which the Academy Award-winning film, “An Inconvenient Truth” is based. More Nashville trainings are planned for late 2007 and early 2008 - focusing on specific sector groups. In addition, TCP/Al Gore-training initiatives have already taken place in the UK, Australia, and Spain with more trainings planned for India, China, Canada and others, with another 1000 people being trained to as TCP Presenters. After TCP Presenters return to their communities, they are linked through our website - theclimateproject.org - a comprehensive online support system and interactive community. They also have a professional team of online communications and education specialists, materials for their audiences and assistance in organizing presenter speaking venues, press releases - every facet of their volunteer work as a messenger of change on the climate crisis. The heart of The Climate Project lies in the commitment, dedication and passion of TCP Presenters to educate, encourage and increase dialogue about the climate crisis and its solutions. The Project welcomes support to continue and expand its work to educate the public about this vital issue. The Climate Project training program has 501(c)(3) non-profit status through its affiliation with the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee and all donations are federally tax-deductible.
