Holiday Sharing Tree

About Us

The Holiday Sharing Tree was founded in 1985 and is a non-profit, seasonal gift- giving project. The project provides each recipient with a gift (valued at approximately $25).

Joint efforts by area businesses, local service groups, and volunteers make it possible for those in need in Blue Earth & Nicollet counties to receive gifts at Christmas. The Salvation Army and Nicollet County Social Services serve as a clearing house to determine the needs of recipients.

In 1985, 182 families were provided gifts. This number has escalated rapidly since then and currently approximately 900 families or 3,067 individuals are being helped.

The Holiday Sharing Tree is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization. The project is funded by individual and corporate / organizational donations. Special fundraising/grant opportunities arise occasionally, but our primary source of funding is through public donations. A board of 12 volunteer business professionals, along with a project manager coordinate the 6-week project that takes over $85,000 to complete.
