In The Gap is a newly formed nonprofit organization whose goal is to help revitalize the City of Wilkes-Barre, PA by partnering with the city and other interested groups in developing problem properties within the city. Phase one of our mission as In The Gap has three steps.
- Step One is to build 12 rent-to-own townhouses on Hickory St. in Wilkes-Barre on land granted by the city.
- Step Two is to help revitalize the 400 Block of S. River Street by matching a $5,000 grant from the City of Wilkes-Barre to homeowners of that street to renovate the facades of their homes effectively upgrading the neighborhood. In the Gap will also build several affordable single family homes on that block as a way of improving the neighborhood.
- The final step is working with Be Relevant Ministries and area young people to create a skate park and recreation area in an existing structure granted by the city.
