Clean Water Action - NJ Chapter

About Us

Fired up about climate change, social justice, access to clean water, and holding our elected officials accountable?

Clean Water Action is one of the most successful environmental advocacy non-profits in the nation. With over 150,000 members here in NJ, we are at the forefront of grassroots efforts to protect our state’s air, water, and public health. Through grassroots community organizing, we educate NJ residents and build support around our campaigns so we can hold our lawmakers accountable and make sure they are passing strong environmental legislation. Currently our team of organizers are working on several statewide and national issues, including a statewide ban on single use plastic bags and Styrofoam containers, a moratorium on new fossil fuel projects in NJ, and to protect the federal Effluent Limitation Guidelines which protect our waterways from toxic wastewater released from power plants.

Job responsibilities for grassroots organizing include educating the public on our campaigns and building the support we need to win through petition signatures, collecting letters to our lawmakers, and fundraising. Ideal candidates should have strong communication skills, great leaderships qualities, and a true passion for environmental issues, politics, or social justice.

Our staff consists of committed, professional, highly skilled activists. New employees receive extensive training and continuing support on issue knowledge and campaign skills. We have a strong and early focus on staff career development that involves travel and management training opportunities.
