About Us

Helping to build stronger neighborhoods by strengthening families and civic life has been the mission of the Greater Philadelphia Federation of Settlements for more than 100 years. We achieve that mission by working with neighborhood centers and settlement houses--community-based anchor institutions serving children, youth and families--and creating positive change in people's lives.

Providing services throughout 45 Philadelphia neighborhoods and the Greater Philadelphia region, Federation programs are both citywide and national in scope and serve 12,000 persons annually. With extensive experience in community engagement, training and technical assistance, the Federation also strengthens agency network capacity by brokering resources (human and financial), facilitating community engagement, and promoting systemic change in effective youth work practice.

Our work is supported by a multi-disiplinary staff and Board of Directors whose backgrounds reflect a broad range or experience in child welfare, youth development, and community development; and funding sources include foundations, state and local government, corporate and individual gifts.
