The National Black AIDS Fund was founded in 2007 as an urgent response to reduce the impact of HIV/AIDS in the African American community. The NBAF envisions doing this by promoting leadership and generating resources for an effective community response to the epidemic. Through a network of local partners through the NBAF Community Based Partnerships Program. NBAF supports grassroots organizations annually which in turn provide HIV awareness, prevention, care and support services to African Americans and other individual and populations impacted by HIV/AIDS.
The NBAF's purpose is to attract, manage and disburse resources to reduce the impact of HIV/AIDS in the African American community. We do not implement programs directly (at this time), relying instead on the knowledge of local experts.
The mission of the NBAF is to provide funding for awareness and educational programs targeted at HIV/AIDS prevention in the African American community, and to organizations that provide services to people living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS.
