First Book-Northern Virginia

First Book- Northern Virginia is one of more than 270 First Book volunteer-led Advisory Boards whose mission is to give children from low-income families the opportunity to read and own their first new books. Last year, First Book-Northern Virginia provided grants to 7 Recipient Groups in the area resulting in 4,000 new books being given to deserving children. We're looking to provide even more this year!

Together, the Advisory Board selects programs to receive book grants, raises funds to support the purchase of new books for the children in these programs, recruits additional members from the community, and participates in national cause-based marketing events and campaigns.
