Children Awaiting Parents is an adoption referral service, which works to link America's children with special needs with permanant adoptive families. The children CAP works for include those who are considered more difficult to place -- those who are older, those with disabilities (whether physical, mental, or emotional), minorities, and sibling groups.
To increase the visibility of these children CAP publishes The CAP Book, a photo listing registry of children from across the U.S. The CAP Book is available in CD ROM format or hard copy. It may be found in libraries and agencies in 43 states. CAP also operates an Internet photo listing of children, The CAP Book,www.capbook.org and special events calendar for child specific recruitment.
CAP is eager to help families explore the possiblities of adoption for the 100,000 children in the U.S. who are freed each year. Many have been neglected or abused; all need permanent homes.
