Elderly Nutrition Program in Yolo County

Established in 1975, Elderly Nutrition provides a hot, nutritious noontime meal to senior citizens, age 60 and older, each weekday, through two primary programs. The Home Delivered Meal Program ("Meals on Wheels") provides an opportunity for "shut-ins" or homebound seniors to receive a hot, home delivered meal on a temporary or long term basis, for those seniors who cannot prepare meals for themselves and do not have family or friends to provide assistance. We provide important daily social contact, a safety net system and resource/referral services as needed. The Congregate Program operates within senior centers and community centers throughout Yolo County. We provide a hot meal to seniors that are more active and can go to the site to eat. Seniors get a chance to get out of their homes to socialize with friends and attend activities at the centers. Meals are served throughout Yolo County in the cities of Woodland, Davis, West Sacramento, Winters, Knight's Landing, and Esparto.

Last year we served over 89,000 noon-meals (approximately 325 per day) to close to 1,300 seniors 60 years and older throughout Yolo County.

The Elderly Nutrition Program is a private, non-profit community agency serving nutritious meals to the seniors of Yolo County.

The mission of our program is to nourish and enrich the lives of individuals in Yolo County with emphasis on those age 60 and older, by providing nutritious meals to active and homebound people; thereby, promoting their health, well-being and independence.

Our vision is that we will end senior hunger by the year 2010.
