About us

The Dallas Holocaust Museum/Center for Education and Tolerance teaches about the past, to learn for today, in order to impact the future. The Museum, a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) since 1984, was first knownas the Dallas Memorial Center for Holocaust Studies, located in the basement of the Jewish Community Center building on Northaven Road in North Dallas. A group of local survivors created the Center to preserve the memory of what they had endured.

As the Center welcomed more visitors, the need to expand became more and more apparent. In 2005, the renamed Dallas Holocaust Museum/Center for Education and Tolerance opened at its transitional location in the historic West End district. A larger larger, free-standing facility is being planned on a recently purchased site near the current building. In the past year, we reached more than 27,000 students and hosted an additional 22,000 walk-in visitors.
