Who we are: Founded in 1963, the Literacy Council of Montgomery County, Maryland is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to helping adults in Montgomery County learn to read, write and speak English. What We Do: We train volunteers to tutor one-on-one or with small groups of students who live or work in Montgomery County. LCMC provides Basic Literacy (teaching reading and writing) and English as a Second Language programs (teaching reading, writing, and speaking).
