About Us

The foundation works toward sustainable education as well as support to slums. Children living in slum, poor rural areas, and minority ethnics have very limited access to education and encounter difficulties to pursue studies due to their underprivileged situation. SAF works day-to-day to tackle these social needs and provide educational opportunities to unfortunate communities. Some of our projects: community libraries, mobile libraries, scholarships, dormitory, nursery school. Please refer to our projects below.

Community libraries:SAF manages two community libraries in Klongtoey slum and Chuaphlung slum in Bangkok. The foundation proposes to children a safe environment to learn and grow up.

Mobile libraries:The purpose of this project is to bring libraries and education to children from 2 to 15 years old living in remote areas. The organization visits those areas using mobile libraries as to provide diverse books to people in need. The foundation has been focusing on remote areas such as around Myanmar’s border where many underprivileged minorities live for decades. Children living there rarely have...more

Nursery school: The purpose of the school is to encourage slum kids to get fundamental education, provide assistance and child caring while parents work. Sikkha’s nursery school always tries to use the best education method possible such as ‘Montessori method’. From the age of two and half, children are able to study in our establishment.

Student dormitory:Children living in rural areas rarely have access to school within a walking distance, as their homes remain isolated in remote area. Therefore, an important number of kids don’t even have the opportunity to get primary education. In order to enable many children to access to school, the foundation set-up student dormitories in Payao province.

Scholarships: SAF provides scholarships for junior-high school and university students who don’t have the financial capacity to continue their education.

Emergency relief: SAF works on relief operation when a large scale natural disaster hits in Thailand or neighborhood countries. We provide scholarships or school materials for children suffered from and support funds for elder people besides relief goods like dry foods, drinking water or milk for children and clothes.

Exchange program: SAF provides international cultural exchange and study tour for foreigners or local students to deepen their understanding toward situations of slum people and minority ethnics living in North of Thailand.
