About Us

B'Tselem was founded in 1989 by a group of Knesset members, public figures, lawyers, academics, and journalists to protect human rights in the Occupied Territories. The strategies to achieve this goal are as follows:

To provide information to the Israeli public and the international community about violations of human rights in the Occupied Territories. To recommend and encourage policy changes to ensure greater protection of human rights. Since its founding, B'Tselem has earned international recognition as the leading Israeli organization monitoring, documenting and advocating to improve the human rights situation in the Occupied Territories. It has issued over 60 publications which have generated extensive media coverage both in Israel and internationally.
