About us

The Miami-Reads Family Literacy Program Inc. provides after-school tutoring and educational enrichment activities to children who are struggling in school. We provide one-on-one, small group and on-line tutoring to students in pre-kindergarten to 6th Grade. Our students include children with learning disabilities, ESE, ADD and ADHD students
Our students are from high -risk poor families who cannot afford the high cost of tutoring from for-profit tutoring companies.
We provide high quality research based tutoring training to interns and volunteers. These volunteers and then match with students for individualized or small groups.Tutoring are held at the child's home, in public libraries, schools, community center. Tutoring sites are located where families live and socialize.
We also provide parent education and literacy workshop for parents so that can become partners in their child's education.
We are serve students and their families in Miami-Dade County, Hallandale and Hollywood.
Students are chosen on recommendations from their teachers and counselors. Students come from high-poverty, low performing schools that are D and F schools.Additionally students are also chosen from schools not meeting their AYP.(Annual Yearly Progress) goals.
