About Us

Mission:

In conjunction with the Governor’s Commission on Community and Volunteer Service, the State Office of Volunteerism has developed the Delaware Leadership In Service Program (DLISP). DLISP provides service opportunities and summer employment to low income Delaware youth between the ages of 14 to 18. DLISP provides youth with enriching and constructive summer work experiences, education, as well as service opportunities.

During the Summer:

Youth can apply for an 8 week summer job. Jobs may include being on an Energy Conservation Team: educating the community on how to conserve energy and the importance of energy iffiency materials, being Summer Camp Counselors, working at a Rowing Club, working in Retail or in Non-profit Organizations. Family involvement is a requirement. Youth learn how to be their own community leaders, they not onlt learn about the issues in their community but also how to address those issues adn concerns.

During the School Year:

Youth can participate in the program by volunteering their time is various community service opportunities. Early involvement in our service opportunities will increases the chances of summer employment.
