The Randolph School is a unique, progressive school for children ages three through ten. Grounded in the educational philosophies of John Dewey and Jean Piaget, the school was founded in 1963 to offer a child-centered, holistic method of education. The focus is on educating the whole child– children are deeply respected in every aspect of their emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development. Randolph serves families who seek an alternative educational experience for their children; our families come to the school because of its progressive approach, multi-age groupings, smaller class size and student-to-teacher ratios, and emphasis on community.
The Randolph School's curricular approach is based on integrating areas of study, in which information and materials are presented in a challenging, relevant, and open-ended way. Children engage in hands-on projects, such as creating a restaurant, writing a field guide, building a rocket, or planting a garden. This stimulates curiosity, creativity, innovative thinking, and a life-long love of learning. Experiences with the natural environment and the arts are consistently built into the learning we do at Randolph School.
