Variety Children's Charity of Northern California

Variety is dedicated to delivering life-enriching services and needed funds that build better futures for the children of Northern California.

Founded in 1927 in Pittsburg, PA, Variety the Children's Charity is dedicated to promoting and protecting the health and well-being of children around the world. Through our network of 43 Tents (or Chapters) in 13 countries, Variety reaches into communities across the globe to offer financial assistance and services to children and organizations that serve children with special needs. Through hard work, thoughtful stewardship, and single-minded focus on the needs of the young, Variety strives to make a lasting difference in the lives of children, their families, our communities, and the world...one need at a time.

Tent #32 of Northern California has proudly served Northern California since 1947, evolving into a leader of programs that support the needs of disabled, critically ill, disadvantaged, and at-risk children without proper access or coverage by insurance, hospital services or government agencies.

Today we are a very special organization led by an enthusiastic group of business and community leaders who donate time, resources and energy to positively impact the lives of children in need across our communities. From our headquarters in San Francisco we support thousands of children each year together with our partner agencies, community sponsors and well-minded/caring donors.

Since 1980 we have been operators of a private screening room and lounge space serving the movie industry and public events which generates additional funding for our programs. We also showcase this private theater to the benefit our donor members with selected movie screenings, author readings, and art receptions as our way of saying Thank You! to the caring donors of Variety!

We make every effort to ensure fiscal responsibility and effective use of our funding. We perform administration duties as a function of our volunteer-based and dedicated board of directors and undergo yearly a third-party audit. Of course, we can't do everything on our own. We proudly work in partnership with many hard working childrens agencies throughout the Bay Area.
