About Us

The Center for Arts and Culture is the nation’s only independent policy center for the arts and culture. Since its creation by foundation leaders in the mid-1990’s, the Center has helped identify and coalesce a cultural policy community involving scholars, foundations, writers and journalists, arts and culture organizations and associations, local leaders and policymakers. Its accomplishments include a two publications, The Politics of Culture and Crossroads: Art and Religion in American Life; a public program series on topics such as Technology and Culture and Globalization and its Impact on Culture; a series of issue briefs including Copyright as Cultural Policy and Strengthening Communities Through Culture; and the weekly dissemination of news and information through its listserv and website, www.culturalpolicy.org. The Center seeks to inform, analyze, and influence public policies that affect the vibrancy of our nation’s arts and culture and its availability to all Americans.
