Philadelphia Inner City Outings

The mission of Philly Inner City Outings is to introduce inner city youth to the wonders of the natural world, allowing them to explore, enjoy and learn about our area's natural resources.

ICO volunteers believe that the wilderness exists as a resource for everyone and that all people should have access to it. With the guidance of ICO leaders, participants discover the beauty of wild lands and how to enjoy these areas without harming them. They have the opportunity to hike, camp, canoe, mountain bike, and so much more. These experiences help strengthen their ability to face challenges in their lives through the development of interpersonal skills and self esteem that comes as a result of teamwork and an active relationship with the outdoors.

The personal rewards for working to help inner city youth become better connected with the environment are immense and the benefits of an outdoor program to these children are even greater.

We are an all-volunteer organization funded solely by private donations. If you are interested in volunteering on an outing, helping out administratively with fund-raising, or want to donate to our organization, please contact us.
